Flock, the social web browser, has been receiving quite a bit of attention lately. First it received the prestigious 2008 Webby Award and now PC World has published a list of 2008 top products selected by its readers and editors and Flock was ranked number six on the list of a total of 100 products.

Even though Mozilla Firefox has a market share of approximately 18 percent, it occupied 21st place on the list followed by Apple Safari for iPhone. Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail client also makes the list in the 42nd position.

The Flock people were getting many complaints that Facebook friends failed to populate in the People Sidebar. Their technicians looked into the matter and yesterday came up with patch 1.1.4 to fix this issue. Flock will update itself with the fix and you will simply need to restart your browser.

If you’ve got to Facebook and can’t wait for the automatic update, Flock 1.1.4 is available for download at http://www.flock.com. All of your previous configuration information will still be available to you after installing 1.1.4.

In an effort to keep its commintment to stability and security, Mozilla plans to release a security patch for its Firefox browser next week, reparing a long-standing security vulnerability in the software.

The 2.0.0.10 update is in testing right now and should be released to the public next week (probably November 27th), following the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. "We are giving it a couple of days to make sure that there are no issues found and we'll release it after Thanksgiving " said Mike Schroepfer, Mozilla's vice president of engineering. Mozilla is calling on the Firefox community to test the browser during a quality assurance "testday" this Friday.

I'm glad to spread the word that Flock Web Browser version 0.4.10 is now available for download. With previous version, I could not integrate Flock with my Epiac's Place no matter what I tried. This morning I did it without a hitch. Right now, I'm composing this post using Flock's new version. This is excellent news for me and for all those bloggers who have opened their blog account at LiveJournal. Great work Bart Decrem; your staff is doing a wonderful job.

I've been enjoying using this social browser since it was last released as a Developer Preview. As Flock sinks in, you might like some features and you might not like others. For example, I wish Flock could imitate Firefox's Bookmarks, they are easier to use which is not the case with Flock. Another problem that I have encountered is making Flock integrate with Livejournal for composing blogs. I understand it works quite well with WordPress, TypePad or Blogger. I'll keep waiting 'til they fix this minor problem. Tic...tic....tic...

Something I really like is its clean simple layout and fast performance. It's a really fast browser, specially its Forward and Back pages. If you are interested in reading other reviews made by web browser Geeks, you might enjoy reading Flying With The Flock . This site includes convenient screen shots which makes it easier to understand what the person is trying to explain. As time goes by, flying with the flock is becoming a fun experience.

Today I will continue talking about recently released Flock based on an article written by Team Flexbeta and published by News Force, an online newspaper. If you’re a Mozilla Firefox user, you will probably notice the close resemblance Flock has with Firefox. Though the browser is in fact based on Firefox, Bart Decrem, the team leader of the project, says Flock won't be forking the Firefox codebase. Still this Flock preview on the outside looks like Firefox but with a different theme. So would a Firefox user be missing anything by sticking with Firefox? Let’s explore some of the features that makes Flock different from the rest.

Yesterday the buzz was around the birth of Flock Web browser in the Blogosphere. Even I wrote a blog about it; the news was too hot to let it go astray. Today I downloaded Flock's Developer Preview 0.5 without a hitch; everything proceeded according to the Set-Up Wizard.

The screens are well designed and pleasing to the eye; very similar to Apple's exquisite good taste. The general format follows Firefox's layout; so if you know yourself around the Fox, you should be comfortable with Flock.

Today is Friday and of course we can energetically say TGIF. Thanks God It's Friday because we have a new kid in the block. This kid likes blogs, just like we do, which means we want to meet and welcome him. The name of the newcomer is Flock and he is the latest web browser released so far.
